After completing my Diploma in Secondary Teaching from the then University of Papua New Guinea (PNG), Goroka Teachers College, I taught at a number of secondary schools in PNG before going on to further studies at UPNG obtaining my Bachelor of Education degree majoring in Mathematics. I joined the UPNG Goroka Campus (now the University of Goroka) as a senior tutor and completed my Masters degree in Mathematics Education with strong emphasis in Ethnomathematics from Queensland University of Technology. I am currently the foundation Coordinator of Glen Lean Ethnomathematics Centre (GLEC) a research centre devoted to promoting the indigenous ethnomathematical knowledge for its academic, educational and cultural values. I have presented a number of papers on ethnomathematics in conferences both internationally and within PNG with a couple of those conference papers published in two Pacific regional journals. My areas of research interests include Ethnomathematics and Mathematical development in PNG, Mathematics Education, Primary and Secondary Mathematics curriculum development and reform, Learning difficulties in mathematics and Mathematical cognition.
