Biography

Mr. Millar Weimate is a primary school trained teacher who has a diploma in primary teaching. He has 12 years of teaching experience in both public and agency schools serving in various capacities as base level, senior teacher and deputy head teacher. In 2013 he obtained his B. Ed degree in leadership and management from the University of Goroka. In 2014 he was awarded the University of Goroka Graduate Teaching Fellow and currently is studying for his B. Ed (Hons.) in Leadership and Management at the University of Goroka. As a practitioner, Millar Weimate brings with him a wealth of experience to a team of highly experienced and committed academics who teach the courses to school administrators in the division of Educational Leadership and Management, Social Development and Gender Studies in the School of Education. He tutors the courses Governance of Education, Politics of Education, Educational Policy Development and Implementation and School Finance Management to B. Ed In-service level 1 and 2 students. 

Research Interest/Background

Millar Weimate has an interest in the area of educational policy and governance and intends to carry out research into related issues and challenges impacting on the operations of schools. For his B. Ed (Hons) research, Millar Weimate has chosen to evaluate the effectiveness of current management practices of developing school infrastructures through SLIP and other interventions to see whether shortage of school infrastructures like classrooms and furniture are adequately addressed through the existing programs. This study is under the supervision of Ms. Joy Purauko, a lecturer in the School of Education at the University of Goroka.
