ABOUT THE SCHOOL OF SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY
The School has collaborations with Papua New Guinea’s best institutions through strategic alliances and affiliations with organizations like; Papua New Guinea National Sports Institute (PNGNSI),Papua New Guinea Institute of Medical Research (PNGIMR), National Department of Agriculture & Livestock (NDAL), National Agriculture Research Institute (NARI), Coffee Industry Corporation (CIC), Highlands Regional College of Nursing and Ramu Agro Industries, providing students with excellent teaching and learning environments. It also shares a practice partnership with NARI, FPDA, NSI, CIC,HRCN, Health Clinics, Goroka Base Hospital, Clinton Foundation, Telikom PNG, Chemical industries, Technical Colleges and Secondary/High Schools in Papua New Guinea (PNG). The School continues to seek and establish new relationships with new external partners so that teaching, research and learning environment is made conducive for all stakeholder boosting the academic profile of the School and the University of Goroka. Recent multimillion kina grants given to the School have resulted in Ultra-Modern Science and Agriculture Laboratories with modern equipment facility for post graduate students to use, a well-equipped Modern Technical Workshop, Agriculture Farm, Computer Laboratory and a state of the art midwifery building and the resource materials. This is the support of Japanese, Australian and PNG Governments to fund these facilities and equipment over a decade time. Graduates of programs offered by the School will find rewarding and challenging careers in a broad range of professions, whether the individual prefers to be a teacher, agriculturist, scientist, technologist, nurse, or other health sector professional. The Heads of Divisions take charge of the daily academic issue within respective Divisions and organize staff to write up courses relevant to programs on offer. The HOD’s and the Executive Dean meet regularly to ensure programs and courses are relevant to market driven.
