Biography

Anson Barish completed his bachelor degree program in Technical Vocational Education and Training at the University of Goroka. He also holds other diplomas; a diploma in Technical Vocational Education – University of Goroka, a diploma in Occupational Health and Safety from HBA Learning Centres, New South Wales, Australia; and a diploma in Applied Sciences from Lae Technical College now National Polytechnique Institute of PNG. 

His qualifications are also accompanied by 10 other certificates.
He has more than 25 years of laboratory work experiences, working on various scientific researches with international and national researchers with vast scientific skill, techniques and knowledge. He has developed a keen interest in fungal biology under the mentor-ship of Dr. Roland Treu and is now researching and presenting papers on culturing mushrooms and experimenting yield performance on various substrates.

Research Interest/ Background


Mycological research into culturing local indigenous mushroom on environmental wastes which are surplus such
as betelnut husks, coconut husks, coffee pulps, coffee parchments, rice hulls, saw dusts and etc..
Found a new mushroom at the foot of Mt. Otto in 2005 and was named after myself called; Lachnella ansonbarishii spp. after confirmation by German Mycological Society with the presence of American Mycological Society Chairman
