University Of Goroka's 10th Anniversary - March 25 1997 - March 25 2007.

This year marks the 10th Anniversary of the UOG. It was in March 25, 1997 when the NEC passed the UOG act (1997). Prior to that this institution was regarded as a campus of the University of Papua New Guinea.

23rd March was therefore declared as an open day for all staff and students of the UOG. The open day was characterised by a series of activities including speeches, performances by the Expressive Arts band, display booths by various departments, and cooking/baking displays by the Home Economics department.

The UOG Day Committee chaired by the acting VC, Dr. Mel and spearheaded by Ms. Anne-Marie Wanamp put together the program for the open day. The Committee is also planning a series of activities and events that will culminate in the major celebration week which falls from June 25 to June 30 2007. Instead of canceling classes activities will be spread throughout the celebration week for staff, students and other stake holders to partake in it. Because this is a special year for UOG the celebrations will not be restricted to the nominated celebration week. Instead the Committee is also working on identifying a series of other activities that will be staged throughout the remaining part of the year. Details will be announced by the Committee through various avenues including the UOG Homepage - www.uog.ag.pg.

Below is a tentative list of some activities as identified by the UOG-Day Committee. (Please, feel free to contact the Committee for further information on phone: 731 1700.
